Crockpot Applesauce (All Natural) Applesauce is very easy to make in the crockpot and I especially love that this recipe is delicious without the addition of any sugar or sweeteners. It stores well once refrigerated and can be used as a side dish with meals or as a healthy alternative in baking recipes. I find it especially convenient to fill several 4 oz. ball jars that I use to pack in my preschooler’s lunch!
3 lb. Granny Smith Apples
1/2 cup water
1 stick cinnamon
1 clean and sterilized jar with lid
Begin by coring and peeling the apples. Slice them into 8 peices and then cut each slice in half to make smaller chinks. Place them in the crockpot and add the water. Break the cinnamon stick in half, and drip it in the crockpot as well. Cook the apples on low for 2 hours. Stir occasionally. when they are done cooking, the aplles should have completely mushed together and you should not notice any large chunks. Remove the cinnamon stick. Ladle the applesauce into a clean jar and secure the lid. Store promptly in your refrigerator.
