Home Made: Easter Egg Dye

Here is a great way to save some money! Make your own Easter egg dye! You don’t need to purchase those boxes of Easter egg tablets to dye your own Easter eggs and it is a great way to teach your kids the basics of mixing their colors! In case you have forgotten: Yellow and Blue=Green; Yellow and Red = Orange; and Red and Blue= Purple! Enjoy!! 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. distilled vinegar
  • 20 drops of food coloring
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Directions

Set a wire cooling rack on a large cookie sheet and then mix water, vinegar, and food coloring in a small bowl. Submerge the eggs in the dye mixture, turning occasionally until desired color is reached, about 2-5 minutes. Then remove eggs with a slotted spoon or tongs and place on the rack to dry. Happy Easter everyone! 🙂

is it 20 drops of food coloring per color that you want? so if you want a blended color you use to your liking of each color to equal the 20? Just curious, thanks for the at home recipe, I love those kinds of deals

  2. Jessica, That is what I do. If I want to mix colors I use 20 total drops. Sometimes more if it takes me a bit to get my desired color. 🙂
